I’m going to tell you something quite shocking about the best detox drinks for weed. In fact, if you are searching for the best detox drink specifically for getting rid of cannabis metabolites, then you could be in for a big surprise by reading this.
I’m going to tell you the truth about marijuana detox drinks, how detox drinks for drug tests actually work, plus reveal those that simply don’t work.
I’m also going to tell you how to use them successfully. Plus I’ll tell you the three brands of a detox drink that I have personally used to pass real-life employment drug tests, that friends, and people I trust, have also successfully used, so you don’t get caught out.
How A Detox Drink Works
Whether you’re looking for a detox drink for weed, or in fact using detox drinks for any type of drug metabolites, the misconception around how these drink works is always the same. People assume a detox drink actually detoxifies your body fully, meaning it flushes all of the toxins out permanently, leaving you totally clean.
Detox drinks don’t actually flush out toxins from your body permanently from throughout your body. All they do is flush the toxins out of your bladder and urinary tract, basically the toxins currently in your urine.
While doing this, they replace nutrients lost in the process, and they maintain the balance, plus the color of your urine so that the sample appears natural, not diluted, and free of drug toxins.
So it’s a classic one day detox cleanse for a drug test, but it doesn’t really cleanse you, other than for a handful of hours. Once metabolites work your way out of your bloodstream and cells, and into your urine again, you will fail a drug test.
There Is No Such Thing As Detox Drinks For Weed
Another big misconception, which costs people money, is how some detox drinks are marketed as specifically formulated to target cannabis metabolites.
The truth is nothing can do that. A drug metabolite is a drug metabolite. It works its way out of your bloodstream, into your urine, and out of your body. Sure, weed metabolites tend to attach to fat, it is why they can be eradicated through the bowels as well, but the principle is the same for any metabolite.
So there is nothing formulated that can specifically target cannabis metabolites. All a detox drink does, as I’ve already explained, is to flush out your urine, allowing it to be clean for a few hours.
If you see a detox drink that claims to be able to target cannabis metabolites, run for the hills. It doesn’t exist, it’s marketing, to get you to part with more money than you need to. Detox drinks for THC, marijuana cleansing drinks and drug detox drinks are all the same.
Detox Drinks Vs Detox Pills
When people are looking at whether to use a detox drink or detox pills to get through a drug test, unfortunately, they are comparing apples to oranges. The two achieve different things. You’re looking at masking toxins temporarily, versus actually detoxing your body permanently. It’s a clear difference that you have to understand.
As you now know, a detox drink only masks the toxins for a few hours, by flushing them out and allowing the balance of your urine to be natural. But in a few hours time, fresh toxins will start to leach into the urine stream again.
Detox pills accelerate a natural detox. Natural detox is where you don’t take in any toxins, and give your body the time to efficiently eradicate them fully. A natural detox, once it’s complete, will allow you to pass any type of drug test naturally.
A detox pill accelerates that process, sometimes by as much as 100%. Cannabis toxins are renowned for the length of time they can take to get out of the body because they attach to fat cells in the body.
A chronic weed smoker can take up to a month to eradicate all of the cannabis toxins, so obviously a detox pill can massively accelerate this process, but it is still not going to get you through a drug test at short notice. For more info, check out my detailed detox pills guide.
Detox Drinks Vs Synthetic Urine
So if you don’t have much time before your drug test, then you can forget about detox pills, and focus instead on the pros and cons of using detox drinks or using synthetic urine.
Detox drinks for drug test success rely on them being good quality, being taken correctly, and submitting your sample within a handful of hours of using them.
Synthetic urine doesn’t require you to submit a real sample at all. However, it’s impossible to submit synthetic urine during a supervised drug test, although people will try to tell you that you can.
But for an unsupervised test, synthetic urine is excellent. It’s the safest way of passing because there is less margin for error. As long as the temperature is within the correct range, and you’re not caught with the fake sample on you, then as long as it’s good quality urine, you’ll pass every time.
So detox drinks are good for the same unsupervised tests, but they do have a slightly higher margin of error. They are also pretty much your only option if you haven’t got the confidence to smuggle in synthetic urine.
When You Can use Detox Drinks For a Drug Test
So as you can see, when it comes the different choices for overcoming a drug test, each have their own pros and cons. In terms of detox drinks, they are ideal for the following situations:
How To Use A Detox Drink Successfully
The key to using detox drinks for a drug test is to understand exactly how they work, and for how long.
You now know they just mask the toxins. A good quality detox drink will mask the toxins for about five hours, as a maximum. But you should really be submitting a sample within a couple of hours of drinking it, especially if you know you have had a lot of toxins in your body.
If you’re looking to disguise cannabis use, then the best detox drinks for weed are simply any high-quality detox drink, that you use in the following way:
Now these instructions vary slightly between the premium detox drinks, and I’ll go through any differences with you when I tell you the top three best detox drinks brands on the market in a moment, but broadly it’s the same for any type of detox drink.
Poor Quality Detox Drinks To Avoid
Before I tell you which are the best quality cleansing drinks you can buy, I want to tell you about those that you should avoid. The detox drinks that I’ve had experience with, or known people who have had experience with, plus using research online, that I would recommend you don’t rely on are:
- Vale Detox
- Jazz Total Detox
The thing is, if you’re using detox drinks for drug tests, then you’ll need one that’s powerful enough to flush out the toxins, maintain the balance in your urine, plus keep the color right as well.
None of the above brands seem to have that capability. They all tend to be cheap, widely sold and marketed, and to me, from testing, and reading online, they are little better than just drinking flavored water.
Proper detox drinks are complex formulas and have to do a big job. I simply wouldn’t waste my time with any of those detox drinks. You might save a few dollars, but if you’re trying to get a job, or keep yourself in a job, then you need to invest to get the best.
Detox Drinks: Walmart & Other Mainstream Stores
As well as avoiding the brands of detox drink I’ve just talked about, when you’re considering using a one day detox cleanse for drug test success, I would suggest you don’t buy a detox drink from any of the major retail chains.
Detox drinks at Walmart, Walgreens, online marketplaces like eBay and Amazon, they are all poor places to buy detox drinks from.
The reason is that they tend to be the low-quality ones that they can buy in cheap, sell fast, and get maximum profit from. But they are not specialist products mostly and have a high failure rate.
Plus, if you buy them from places online that are not specialist outlets, then they can often be out of date, or even completely fake products.
So my advice is to always buy detox products from specialist online retailers, that you see real people giving positive reviews of online.
The Top 3 Drug Detox Drinks Available
I’m a heavy weed smoker and have been for years. I’ve also changed jobs quite a few times, and have had a couple of jobs with on the job drug testing. So I found through lots of research, what the best detox drinks for weed are, to protect myself.
These detox drinks, as you now know, don’t just work for weed, they just work to flush out drug metabolites generally.
So it doesn’t matter what you’ve got racing around your body, the following three detox drinks for drug testing will definitely flush out the toxins, and maintain the chemical balance, for up to 5 hours, giving you plenty of time to submit a clean urine sample.
I’ll start with my brief review of each of the best detox drinks around, by talking about what I believe is the most powerful detox drink on the market today. The thing is, it’s also the most expensive detox drink on the market. You’ll have to pay around $80 for your bottle of Ultra Eliminex.
But you get what you pay for, and I’ve used Ultra Eliminex for testing purposes, and have a friend who’s used it for a live drug test, and despite us both being heavy weed smokers, the drug tests were passed easily.
You don’t need to drink additional water with Ultra Eliminex. You drink the contents of the bottle over about 30 minutes and then urinate frequently over the following 30-60 minutes. You are then clean for several hours.
So it’s a top recommendation for me, because, despite the price, Ultra Eliminex has passed tests for me, and looking online, user reviews are strongly saying it’s very powerful detox drink.
For detailed instructions check out my Ultra Eliminex review, and you can purchase it here.
My second recommendation is Rescue Cleanse. It’s a very established brand of detox drink, that has been around for several years. But don’t let that fool you, the formula is powerful and updated.
It’s also another brand of detox drink where you only have to drink the contents of the bottle, no additional water.
I’ve found that the poorer detox drinks on the market then ask you to refill the bottle, and drink more water. The exception to that is the third drink on my list, but generally, you should be suspicious of detox drinks which basically want you to use water to flush out the toxins.
So the instructions are straightforward, you drink the bottle over about 15 minutes, and then urinate frequently. After an hour you will be at maximum cleanliness, and you will be fine to go and submit your sample. Rescue Cleanse is made by Clear Choice and available at Testnegative.com.
The other thing about Rescue Cleanse is that it retails around $55, which is $25 cheaper than Ultra Eliminex. I wouldn’t recommend Rescue Cleanse if you are facing and advanced drug test, but for a basic, cheap drug test, like pre-employment, it’s definitely powerful enough.

My third detox drink recommendation is Mega Clean. This is another established detox drink, from the well-known company Detoxify.
It’s a good formula, and I’ve used it myself in a pre-employment drug test. I’ve also tested it with home drug test kits, and I’ve known several people who have passed live urine drug tests with it as well.
So it’s good quality. It’s also affordable, costing $69. Slightly more expensive than Rescue Cleanse, and so you really have a straight choice between both of those if you want to pass a basic drug test.
What I would say though is that Mega Clean isn’t quite as strong as Rescue Cleanse or Ultra Eliminex on its own. Just good enough, but a slightly higher risk of not flushing out all the toxins.
However, if you buy Mega Clean with six pre-rid pills, which you can get as a combo deal, then it makes it more powerful than Rescue Cleanse. The reason is that you take the six Toxin Rid pre-rid pills 24 hours before the test, and they start to flush out the toxins at an accelerated rate, meaning there are less for Mega Clean to deal with when you drink it a couple of hours before your test. For detailed instructions check out my Mega Clean review.
Stay Safe With The Best Cleansing Drinks Available
So hopefully you now understand that not all detox drinks are created equal. Quality costs money, and there are actually surprisingly few brands of drug detox drink on the market that you can truly rely on.
Plus, I’ve also explained how detox drinks fit into the overall strategy when you have a drug test coming up. They aren’t the only option, and a natural detox supported by detox pills, or simply using synthetic urine, can sometimes be the better option.
And importantly, you now won’t get ripped off. Detox drinks for weed, are just cleansing drinks for drug metabolites generally. There are no specialist detox product that target cannabis metabolites, and if you’re going to use detox drinks for a drug test, you just need to look at the quality of the product, not the type of drug you have taken.
